Details

The burner has a dark gray ceramic lid with ridged rings and a cone hole in the center, a clear tube, a millstone of two stacked stones, and a base dish with a pouring spout. It stands on a wooden frame with four legs, and a small cup sits under the spout.

A backflow cone is hollow at the base, and it draws part of its smoke down through the lid. That smoke is cooler and heavier than the air, so it falls in a thin stream onto the millstone, spreads across the dish and pours out of the spout. The tube shields the stream from drafts.

How to use

Light the tip of a backflow cone, let it catch, then blow the flame out so it glows. Set it on the hole in the lid, hollow side down, and place the cup under the spout. Keep the burner away from fans and open windows.

Shipping and returns

Ships in 24 to 48 hours, then 6 to 9 business days in transit. Free shipping over $75. 30 days to return an unused item in its original packaging.

Safety

Never leave burning incense unattended. The lid gets hot, so let it cool before you lift it. Handle the tube with care, since it can break. Use the burner on a heat resistant surface, away from curtains and paper, and out of reach of children and pets. Clear the cold ash after each use.

Questions

Four things people ask

How does a backflow incense burner work?

The smoke of a backflow cone is heavier than the air around it, so it runs down the piece instead of rising. The cone needs a hollow center and a channel in the burner for the effect to show.

What is the Millstone Glass Tube Backflow Incense Burner made of?

It is ceramic. A burner takes heat and ash every time it is used, so the material has to stand it and then wipe clean once the piece is cold.

Is it safe to leave it burning?

Never leave burning incense unattended. Keep the burner on a heatproof surface, clear of curtains, paper and anything that moves in a draft, and remember that the ash and the piece stay hot for a while after the incense has gone out.

How much is it, and is shipping free?

This one is $69.90, and shipping is free over $75. Below that shipping is a flat $5.90, and an unused piece in its original packaging can go back within 30 days.
