1. What these products are, and what they are not

House of Dusk sells home fragrance products and the objects that diffuse them. Our diffusers are decorative household appliances and our oils are fragrance products for use in the air of a room.

They are not medicines, supplements or medical devices. Nothing we sell is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition. We make no health, wellness or therapeutic claim about any product, and no statement anywhere on this site should be read as one. If you have a health question, speak to a qualified medical professional.

2. General safety

  • Keep all products and oils out of reach of children and pets.
  • Never swallow essential oils. If swallowed, contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 immediately.
  • Do not apply undiluted essential oil to skin. If oil contacts skin, wash with soap and water.
  • If oil enters the eyes, rinse with clean water for fifteen minutes and seek medical advice.
  • Use in a ventilated room. Stop use if anyone in the room becomes uncomfortable.
  • If you are pregnant, nursing, or have asthma or a respiratory condition, talk to your doctor before using fragrance products in your home.

3. Pets

Some essential oils are known to be harmful to cats, dogs and birds. Cats in particular lack an enzyme that processes certain compounds. Do not run a diffuser in a closed room where an animal cannot leave, and ask your veterinarian before using fragrance products around pets or birds.

4. Electrical diffusers

  • Indoor use only, on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Power the unit only with the cable supplied, from a power source that matches the rating on the product.
  • Charge rechargeable units only with the cable supplied.
  • Do not immerse the base in water. For a diffuser with a water tank, do not run it empty.
  • Unplug before filling, emptying or cleaning, and when the unit is not in use.
  • Do not use with a damaged cable or plug, and never repair a unit yourself.
  • Do not place under a shelf, a curtain or anything that traps the vapor.

5. Reed diffusers and fragrance liquids

  • The liquid is flammable. Keep away from open flame, candles and heat sources.
  • Place on a protected surface. The liquid can mark wood, painted, lacquered and stone surfaces.
  • Turn the reeds with clean hands and wash them afterwards.
  • Do not decant the liquid into another container and never reuse the bottle for anything else.

6. Incense, burners and wax warmers

  • Never leave burning incense, a lit tealight or a warmer unattended.
  • In a tealight oil burner, fill the dish with water first, then add a few drops of oil, and never let the dish run dry while the tealight burns.
  • Use on a heat-resistant surface, away from anything that can catch fire.
  • Keep out of drafts, and away from children and pets.
  • Allow ceramic and stone to cool completely before handling or cleaning.

7. Ceramic, glass and stone

These are natural and fired materials. Small variations in color, glaze and shape are normal and are not defects. Handle with care, a dropped piece will break. Do not put any of our pieces in a dishwasher, a microwave or an oven.

8. Allergens and ingredients

Every bottle carries its ingredient list and its allergen declaration on the label. If you have a known fragrance allergy, read the label before use. We can send you the full ingredient breakdown for any oil on request, write to contact@houseofdusk.com.

9. Reporting a safety concern

If you believe a product is unsafe, stop using it immediately and contact us at contact@houseofdusk.com or +1 (307) 213-4408. We investigate every report and we will tell you what we find.
